What to expect during your chiropractic visits

First Visit

If you have never been to a Chiropractic office before, let us give you a brief overview of what to expect:
First you will find free parking close to the door. Our receptionist will greet you when you enter the office and give you a short tour. She will then give you paperwork to complete including a health history questionnaire.

While the Doctor reviews your case history you will have the option to watch a short 5 minute video. Next the Doctor will discuss your case history with you to make sure we have all the information needed to proceed.

If chiropractic care is likely to help you, the Doctor will perform a comprehensive spinal examination and/or assessment of your area of complaint. Radiographs (x-rays) are sometimes ordered to gain further information if long-term damage or degeneration is suspected. If you have already had x-rays of scans taken, try to bring them or a copy of your report to the consultation. Radiographs are covered by OHIP.

Patients in acute pain can expect to have some emergency care or advice given to them on their first visit. If the Doctor is able to establish a tentative diagnosis some treatment may be provided on the first visit. Usually treatment will start on the second visit once the Chiropractor has had time to evaluate examination findings and explain the cause of your problem to you.

Second Visit

The results of your examination will be discussed with you. The Doctor will recommend a course of action to correct your problem or improve your situation. Treatment usually involves a series of adjustments or specific therapy for your injury. Patients are provided with home advice to enhance progress.

Regular Visits

Treatments often only take 5 to 10 minutes so they will not take much time out of your busy day. Adjustments of the spine are similar to exercise training in that they have an accumulative benefit. Each visit builds on the one before it so following your treatment schedule as best you can, will maximize results in the shortest time.
